Situated at the northern tip of Tankah bay, Casa Xuul is protected by the Mesonamerican Reef system offering privacy, calm and shallow water in the bay of Tankah to the south and Soliman bay to the north. 1 hour 45 minutes from Cancun airport, 45 min from Playa del Carmen, 10 min from Tulum village and beach, 5 min from the Tulum archeological site and minutes away from Cenote Manati, several restaurants and centrally located to the many attractions available in the area.

TRANSPORTATION

Group transportation from the airport is arranged (Loudens & Fairfields are renting a car).
Group # 1 (Kuhlmans, Tepes, Kathmans, Fesslers, Amy & Jan) will depart the airport at 12:45 and stop for lunch on the way to the house.
Group # 2 (Kreutzjans & Meyers) will be about 2 hours later landing in Cancun

Mexico is not currently requiring a negative COVID test to enter the country (mandates are subject to change). However, the U.S. does require a negative COVID test before re-entering the country, taken within 72 hours of travel. Testing sites in Mexico can be unreliable and receiving results in a timely fashion even less so. We recommend utilizing eMed.com for their rapid test kits that are perfect to pack for travel and show digital results on the Navica app on your phone. This QR code is accepted by Delta, American, United and the CDC. We’ll walk you through how to do it.

TESTING FOR RETURN TO THE U.S.

STEP 1: PURCHASE THE TEST KITS FROM EMED.COM
Go to eMed.com to purchase the 6-pack of test kits. The pack is $150 and includes 6 tests ($25/each). This is perfect for 1 couple. Check out. Your kit should arrive within 2 business days. You can open the outer shipping box to reveal the 6 test kits but DO NOT OPEN individual tests until ready to take a test or you will invalidate the results.

STEP 2: DOWNLOAD THE NAVICA APP & CREATE A USER ACCOUNT (EACH PERSON)
Download the NAVICA app from the Apple app store or from Google Play. Make sure each individual person does this and creates a username and password and profile. Do this before you ever the U.S. Record in the notes section on your phone what you and your partner’s info is in case you forgot or get logged out.

STEP 3: PACK 3 KITS EACH IN YOUR CARRY-ON LUGGAGE
Hopefully you won’t need them, but it’s a good idea for each person to have 3 kits available to them in case of user error or test failure or requirement changes for Mexico entry. Remember not to open the individual test kit boxes. You may notice an expiration date of October on your kits — this is fine. The kits are good 60 days past the sell-by date and are approved for use before December 3, 2021.

STEP 4: TAKE THE TEST WITHIN 72 HOURS OF ARRIVAL INTO THE U.S.
It’s a good idea to test on Friday morning for those departing on Saturday and for everyone else to test Saturday morning.
Please allow 25-30 minuets to take a test. You need a good internet or data connection, private space where you can hear well, and a tabletop to place the test flat as well as set your phone up for the video call. The testing agent can see you perform the test and will help walk you through it as well as show you visual animated instructions onscreen.

Thoroughly wash & dry your hands but do not open the test kit until the agent instructs you to do so. Begin the testing session by going to eMed.com and clicking the ‘Start Testing’ button. It will have you select your state of residence. It then takes you to a screen where it says ‘Login with Navica’ which is the option you want. Follow the prompts and it will put you in a queue to do a video call with an agent. There will be a sound check. When you are connected to an agent, they will instruct you to open the sealed test kit in front of them. They will have you scan the QR code on the outside of the test box. Then they will have you take out the 3 items — the swab, the test folder and the liquid drops.

They will have you put 6 drops into the testing area. Please do at least 6 drops, not any less (a few extra is ok but less will invalidate the test). They will have you open the swab and swirl the swab 5 times around your left nostril and 5 times around your right nostril. You do not need to stick it far up into your brain. Then they will have you weave it through the test packet so the swab makes contact with the liquid. From this point on, the test will process flat on the table for 15 minutes (follow the animation to see which side of the testing folder faces up). You are free to move around and do something while the clock counts down.

When the 15 minutes expires, an agent will either come back onto the screen to have you scan the QR code with the results and so he can visually see the results, or a chat box will appear with instructions. Follow the directions either way. The results are much like a pregnancy test. There will be one line as the control line to show the test was processed properly. If there is a second line, however faint, that is a positive result for COVID-19 which is very bad LOL. So hopefully everyone’s will just show the control line.


Once the results of the test have been witnessed and approved by the agent, you are done. You will receive the digital test results as well as a QR code on your Navica app within 15 minutes. This is what you will present to your airline before boarding the flight for the U.S.

Chef Service: Chef Luis has teamed up with us to offer our guests chef service every day upon request (including Sundays & holidays), and for all 3 meals. There’s more flexibility, and direct contact with the chef to accommodate any special requests for celebrations, or dietary needs. Payment is also directly. Prices are between $35 -$50 USD per person per meal. It is by selection from chef’s menu by request. He can also offer a mixologist/bartender service for cocktails by the pool.
